Growth of Fair Trade

Czech Republic
Fair Trade is developing and becoming a more known concept in the Czech Republic. Four wholesale importers and ten specialized shops are distributing a still limited, but growing, range of products, also available in healthy food shops, drugstores, cafés. Some companies offices already switched to Fair Trade, and some institutions declared their will to support Fair Trade. A plat-form for Fair Trade is being developed (see Asociace pro Fairtrade and the Society for Fair Trade and Development Education). Society for Fair Trade works on awareness raising, and in promoting Fair Trade using a network of Worldshops and other salespoints maintained by volunteers.
Projects :
- World in a Shopping Cart : Producing a set of workshops related to our consumption patterns and their impact on developing countries, and disseminating them into the primary and secondary schools.
- Global Issues : Integration of global education topics into English lessons.
- Watoto : Development education in kindergartens.
- Playing Fair Alternatives : An international (Italian, Malta, Czech, ...) project aimed at creating and distributing a board game - Fair Play, manuals for teachers, multipliers, theatre plays.
- Epice : A French - Czech school exchange.
- Nazemi : Volunteer-based outlets to sell and inform about Fair Trade products.
