News from Timisoara, Roumania Territory of Co-Responsibility

As promised, at the end of September we spent four working days in the Timisoara (Romania) ResponsibleTerritory.
Inaddition to the increasing implication of local actors (many joinedthe project coordination group since August: it now counts 64 members!),we notedan undeniable interest for local development of responsibleeconomy and astrong citizen mobilization which made possible the workon well beingindicators.

More than a hundred people took part inthe well being criteria definition on September 24.
Firstdivided into 16 monochromic groups, then in mixed groups,citizensexpressed approximately 400 criteria which we analyzed tocreate the indicatorsclassified in 7 families:
- means of life
- life style
- governorship
- human relations
- personal and social balance
- feelings
- participation.

The coordination group will validate this work during November; it will then beavailable on our web site.

OnSeptember 25 and 26,various meetings took place to study responsibleeconomy local developmentprospects based on IRIS members' experience.
Aimingto develop local partnerships between farmers and consumers(accordingto the URGENCI model) We met both parties in two city marketsandcontacted active organizations in the field of local agriculture.
Thedevelopment (according to the IFAT model) of ethical trade startedwithidentifying groups of people in difficulty in the sector of thecraft industry.The Industry Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture ofTimisoara offered helppromoting products threw trade shows.
Local financial organizations expressed strong interest in Ethical Financelocal development (supported by FEBEA and INAISE).
Forthe development of social integration enterprises, (according toENSIE'sexperience), the interest of NGOs is obvious in spite of adifficult butnecessary step of local legislation adaptation.
Finally,the coordination group decided to divide into four sub-groups forthespecific development of each axis. Its next meeting is fixed onOctober 22.
