IFAT - The International Fair-Trade Association

IFAT is an international network gathering various fair trade organizations.

Network's Objectives:
Its mission is to accompany and link fair Trade organizations in order to improve their performances in supporting small disadvantaged producers, in particular in the Southern countries, and recently in Eastern European countries, for the improvement of their income, autonomy and living conditions. Network activity is centred on market development, conformity control and promotion.

Network Members:
IFAT is a global network of 280 organizations working in 60 countries (including 165 members in the least developed countries), having for objective to improve the living conditions of trade handicapped people and offering a space of information and ideas exchange. Approximately 65% of the members are based in the South (Asia, the Middle East, Africa and South America), others being either European, North American or from the Pacific (Japan, Australia, New Zealand). Members can be producers associations and cooperatives, import-export companies, retailers, national and regional faire trade networks and financial institutions, all dedicated to faire trade principles. Of various forms and sizes, they represent the Faire Trade chain from production to distribution.
