Timisoara : TV campaign

Regional television TVR Timisoara is broadcasting the campaign "Give value to your choices and consume responsible", an action intended to inform and raise the consciousness of citizens in consumption of products made by marginalized people. The campaign is organized in the context of the project "A gift for you - A smile for us", built with the Council of Europe, the platform IRIS, and the Timisoara city council collaboration.

The action "A gift for you - A smile for us" is in the framework of the project "Timisoara - Responsible territory for social cohesion and sustainable development" and during the spring Fair, organized by the Timisoara city council in the city centre. The action purpose is to raise consumers consciousness about how everyday consumption choices can have an impact on the life of people around us. For this occasion we invite the citizens of Timisoara to think about the consequences of their daily consumption acts and to think about how these choices are influencing the way our society develops. Through their consuming choices, citizens can support the growth of local products trading, and of an inclusive community - for all its members.

Nine representatives from public services and from non-governmental organizations and individuals have decided to collaborate within the framework this action, proposing to the public as main message the campaign "Give value to your choices and consume responsible". Thereby, as part of the Fair, it will be set up a stand where visitors can buy products realized by disadvantaged persons (persons with disabilities, Young HIV-positive people, Roms, persons struggling with social problems, elderly persons) who will be supervised by the following structures : the Christian Association for help, Parudimos association, Day center of Local Council of Timisoara for elderly persons, Chosen Foundation, "Pentru Voi" foundation, Rudolf-Wather foundation, the Save the Children organisation, and SCOP. Next to this organisations we welcomed the presence and the participation of the craftsman master Dumitru Copil.

This action is the third edition, organized in the framework of the project "Timisoara - Responsible territory for social cohesion and sustainable development". This project plans the promotion and the development of alternate approaches in Romania regarding struggle against poverty and social exclusion, ethical finance, responsible consumption, fair trade, and professional integration of disadvantaged persons.
